General Questions

1. Any chance my child can play right now (Spring 2008)?
Not really. Some slots are still available in U12 Boys and U12/14 Girls, e-mail us at registrar@rpayso.org and we'll do our best to place your child on a team.

2. I don't have a computer/can't figure out eAYSO. Can I submit a paper application to register my child?
Yes. Paper forms will be available at registration but we strongly encourage using eAYSO.

3. My child played in Rogers Park AYSO last year. Do I need to provide a birth certificate at registration this year?
No. Proof of birthdate is required only if the child has never played with Rogers Park AYSO.

4. Is the player fee pro-rated or reduced if my child can only play half the year?
No, the player fee is a single fee which covers the costs of running our region. Whether a player plays the full year (fall and spring) or just a single season, our costs are the same. If you can't afford the fee, financial assistance is available - no child will be left out for financial reasons. Contact registrar Mori Wong at registrar@rpayso.org.

5. Can I get my child on the same team as his/her friend or request a specific coach?
No. Random team assignment, coupled with player ratings when available, is the best way to assure balanced teams. Only exception: If you have two children in the same age division, you can request that they be assigned to the same team.

6. My child will be four years old soon. Can she play AYSO soccer?
Yes, but they MUST be 4 years of age by July 31, 2008.  As this deadline is set by AYSO National, there is no exception to the minimum age requirement.

7. Do I need to register each of my children if I have more than one child playing?
Yes, you will need to register each child separately. Each individual player needs to be registerd with AYSO.

8. My child has played in Rogers Park AYSO in the past, but did not play last fall, will we be able to register as a returning player?
No, you will not be able to register your child as a returning player.  If your child did not play last year in Rogers Park AYSO last year (2007-2008), you are considered a new family and must register as a new family.  If your child had a sibling that played last year (2007-2008) you may register the sibling that did not play last year as a returning family.

9. I want to be a coach. Can I request specific players?
No. Parents coach their own children. If coaches with talented kids team up, they have an unfair advantage.

10. What day(s) are games played on?
All games for all divisions are played on Sundays. The earliest games begin at 12:00 pm and the latest games begin at 3:45 pm. The exception to this is for the traveling divisions, some games may start at 4:00 pm.

11. When will practices be held, and how frequently?
The practice schedule are set by the coaches. Most teams practice once a week on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday beginning around 5:00 pm. A few coaches have two practices a week but the majority of the teams only practice once a week. The only exception to this is for the U05 and U06 divisions which practice for the first half hour of their Sunday game slot. Most teams in the U05 and U06 divisions do not have weekly practices.

12. Do I have to provide an e-mail address when I register?
Yes, for two reasons. First, it enables the coaches to contact their players more efficiently. Second, it permits our sponsors to send you information - the financial support of our sponsors is critical to our program. Neither we nor our sponsors will give your e-mail address to commercial bulk mailers.

13. What if I miss registration?
If you miss registration, you must place your child on the waiting list and go through the waiting list process. Children on the waiting list will only be placed if there are team vacancies. If you are not contacted about placement, your child's name will remain active on the waiting list. Most children on the waiting list never get placed, but it's the only chance of filling any team vacancies.
